ACM Digital Library 2008: Interactivity - constructed narratives

Constructed Narratives is a digital media research project and game that explores the design of tangible social interfaces that facilitate discourse and information sharing in public spaces. Designed for experiments in social networking and learning in physical environments, the tangible social interface (TSI) is based on the premises of the tangible user interface (TUI) -- physical objects embedded with hardware sensors for responsive output when manipulated. The tangible social interface gives unique output based on manipulation technique as well as profile information about the person who is doing the manipulation.

ACM SIGGRAPH 2002: Brooke Singer, Paul Cunningham - Self-Portrait version 2.0

Self-Portrait version 2.0 (SPv2) is an online application available at www.spv2.net. SPv2 explores how identity can be constructed and perceived through data collection in cyberspace. Some data in cyberspace we consciously create to represent ourselves (emails and Websites, for instance). Other bits of data accumulate without our efforts-and many times without our knowledge-tracing certain elements of our interactions both in the physical and virtual worlds. Because of this data that we do not willingly disperse, our cyber image is not always in our control nor ever fully knowable to us. SPv2 explores to what extent we are accessible online and what we may look like through mining Internet data.

Tampa Bay Times: Software finds facts, then tugs at user's sleeve

The computer learns what you want, finds it and then notifies you. "You're actually delegating tasks to your computer," said Damien Miller, vice president of technology, calling it "computers being active assistants instead of just tools." Kinetoscope's way of doing that is in a system it developed called Via, or Versatile Intelligent Agents, and unveiled this summer at the Java Internet Business Expo in New York. (Via can't be found on any software retailer's shelves; Kinetoscope sells it only to businesses.)

Macintosh Garden: Teknosys Help!

Help! version 1.0.8 provides very comprehensive information about your computer and its system related software. The information it gathers is output in database readable format and the reports that it creates are really nice to view.

MacTech: Help! 1.0 to the Rescue

Help! is intended to provide technical support to individual end users. Help! analyzes your computer system to determine system information and what software is there. Next, it compares the information about your computer with information stored in Help!'s knowledgebase. Help! generates a report indicating any detected problems and offers suggestions for corrective action.
